{"id":6777,"date":"2019-04-11T18:45:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-11T18:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iij.fifthtribe.com\/event\/iij-rftfs-initiative-rehabilitating-and-reintegrating-returning-foreign-terrorist-fighters-capacity-building-workshop\/"},"modified":"2021-10-06T15:23:37","modified_gmt":"2021-10-06T15:23:37","slug":"iij-rftfs-initiative-rehabilitating-and-reintegrating-returning-foreign-terrorist-fighters-capacity-building-workshop","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/theiij.org\/ar\/event\/iij-rftfs-initiative-rehabilitating-and-reintegrating-returning-foreign-terrorist-fighters-capacity-building-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"IIJ RFTFs Initiative: Rehabilitating and Reintegrating TFs\/RFTFs \u2013 Second Chad Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In April 2019, the IIJ convened a workshop in N\u2019Djamena on Understanding and Effectively Addressing the Terrorist Fighter Phenomenon in Chad.&nbsp;The workshop brought together judges, prosecutors, investigators, correction officers, social workers, psychologists and religious leaders from various organisations in Chad, along with national and international subject-matter experts.&nbsp;The practitioners shared expertise and experiences on enhancing interagency cooperation on rehabilitation and reintegration, and the important roles of probation and parole, and the community, in successful rehabilitation efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During in-depth discussions and interactive group exercises, participants started developing elements for an addendum \u2013 specifically addressing the rehabilitation and reintegration of terrorist offenders \u2013 to Chad\u2019s National Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chad workshop was convened under the IIJ Returning Foreign Terrorist Fighters (RFTFs) Initiative, and is part of a project \u2013 funded by the Government of the Netherlands \u2013 on rehabilitating and reintegrating terrorist offenders with a specific focus on Chad and Mali.\u00a0The project is implementing the recommendations articulated in the GCTF&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theiij.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/English-Addendum-to-The-Hague-Marrakech-Memorandum.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Addendum to The Hague-Marrakech Memorandum on Good Practices for a More Effective Response to the FTF Phenomenon, with a focus on Returning FTFs<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0The workshop in N\u2019Djamena was the second of four\u00a0capacity-building workshops with Chad.\u00a0Separately and concurrently, four capacity-building\u00a0workshops\u00a0are being held in Mali, the first of which took place in December 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mlqwhsp1u9p8.i.optimole.com\/OM5RUNw-C_w7jTsZ\/w:auto\/h:auto\/q:auto\/https:\/\/www.theiij.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/D3zOcLhXoAA0HTP.jpeg\" alt=\"D3zOcLhXoAA0HTP\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>For more information on this workshop or the IIJ RFTFs Initiative, please contact Director, Programmatic Unit, <a href=\"mailto:maloneg@theiij.org\">Gail Malone<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":3645,"template":"","event_type":[184],"event_topic":[217],"pages_relationship":[79],"event_category":[],"class_list":["post-6777","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","event_type-workshops-ar","event_topic-rftfs-ar","pages_relationship-rftfs-initiative"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.5 -
