Eleventh Meeting of the Global Counterterrorism Forum’s Coordinating Committee
The IIJ joined the Eleventh Meeting of the Global Counterterrorism Forum’s Coordinating Committee in Zurich, Switzerland on 9-10 March. The GCTF is a multilateral counterterrorism body with 30 founding members (29 countries plus the EU) from around the world. This event was held at the level of national counterterrorism coordinator, focal point from the foreign ministry, or other appropriate senior counterterrorism policymaker. During the first day, participants had the opportunity to take stock of the work of the Forum from the six GCTF thematic and geographic working groups since the previous Coordinating Committee meeting and determine priorities going forward. On the second day, the IIJ, along with the other two GCTF-inspired institutions (GCERF and Hedayah) provided the Coordinating Committee with updates on the developments from their respective institutions over the past year. In the final session, the IIJ further described its approach to operationalising GCTF framework documents.
