GCTF Plenary Meeting of the West Africa Region Working Group

The International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ) participated in the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) Plenary Meeting of the West Africa Working Group (Algiers, 23 – 24 October 2017). The IIJ Representative presented on the IIJ work in the region and in the area of rehabilitation and reintegration of RFTFs and moderated a session on Returning Foreign Terrorist Fighters. The Plenary Meeting was attended by representatives from 35 countries, the EU, as well as 14 International Organizations and was intended as platform allowing open discussions among policy makers and experts to share their expertise on priority areas, to establish collaborative networks for cooperation and discuss capacity-building efforts in the region. Different sessions determined the priorities and future work plans for the West Africa Working Group: 1) Returning FTF; 2) Legislative Systems and Legislation; 3) Countering Terrorist Financing; 5) Border Security, Capacity Building and Training; and 6) National Action Plans for P/CVE.
