At the GCTF (Global Counterterrorism Forum)  Tenth Coordinating Committee Meeting, the IIJ updated GCTF members on its efforts to implement existing GCTF good practices documents through holding targeted workshops with over 900 practitioners and experts over the past year. At the GCTF Seventh Ministerial later in the week, the IIJ outlined its plans for the coming year. The following day, the IIJ described the IIJ’s efforts in support of the U.S./Turkish GCTF Initiative to Address the Life Cycle of Radicalization to Violence. During the week, the GCTF adopted two good practice documents developed by the IIJ – the Valletta Recommendations Relating to Contributions by Parliamentarians in Developing an Effective Response to Terrorism and the Neuchatel Good Practices on Juvenile Justice in a Counterterrorism Context — as well as two other documents that were developed at expert meetings held at the IIJ – Recommendations on the Effective Use of Alternative Measures for Terrorism Offences and the Addendum to The Hague Marrakech Memorandum on Good Practices for a More Effective Response to the FTF Phenomenon with a Focus on Returning FTFs.
