IIJ attended both the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) Coordinating Committee and Ministerial Plenary Meetings
The International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ) attended both the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) Coordinating Committee and Ministerial Plenary meetings during September 18-20, as well as several side-events connected to the UN General Assembly. The IIJ staff highlighted the many ongoing programs and initiatives as a GCTF-inspired institution, working together with the GCTF to develop and implement practitioner-oriented programs. During a parallel EXPO and as a forum partner, Monique Kamies, Program Manager, explained that our aim is to implement the GCTF memoranda and incorporate the tools developed under the GCTF Initiative to Address the Life Cycle of Radicalization to Violence (Lifecycle Initiative) in as many of our programs as possible, among other core work. The IIJ will also continue to support the various working groups, most clearly the Criminal Justice and Rule of Law (CJ-ROL) Working Group now co-chaired by Nigeria and Switzerland. The IIJ’s growing team of multi-lingual professionals, hailing from over ten different countries, has steadily increased the number of IIJ programs and broadened the IIJ’s outreach with the GCTF.
