On 29 March 2019, the IIJ was pleased to meet with Mr. Tom Youssouf, Attorney General for Chad, in the margins of the IIJ’s Successful Prosecutions of Counterterrorism Cases: Curriculum Development Expert Meeting in Malta.  The meeting was an opportunity to discuss ongoing collaboration with Chad under many of the IIJ’s Core Initiatives.  Program Manager for the IIJ Rehabilitating and Reintegrating RFTFs Initiative, Ms. Monique Kamies, briefed on the upcoming training in N’Djamena in April, and Mr. Soufiane El Hamdi, Program Manager for the IIJ Judicial Capacity Building Initiative, provided the Attorney General with a copy of the recently published IIJ Recommendations for Judges in the Sahel and West Africa.  Attorney General Youssouf reaffirmed that he sees the IIJ as a pivotal partner for Chad and welcomed further capacity-building and cooperation, including capacity-building on investigation techniques for judicial police and along Chad’s border.  IIJ Executive Secretary Tom Wuchte welcomed these insights and the opportunity to continue to strengthen the IIJ-Chad partnership.
