The IIJ participated in a workshop on “Preventing/Countering Violent Extremism in a Development Context” hosted by the European Commission and the Netherlands EC Presidency in the framework of the EU Counter-Terrorism Monitoring, Reporting and Supporting Mechanism. The workshop brought together CT, CVE and development practitioners for an exchange about the linkages between CVE and development policy.

The discussions focused on the new ODA criteria and on the intrinsic connection between security and development. One working group specifically addressed the issue of criminal justice and rule of law programs and their role in CVE with a case study as a basis for discussions.
