Annual Governing Board Meeting

On 29 -30 October 2025, the IIJ was honoured to welcome our esteemed Governing Board of Administrators (GBA) for our annual board meeting at in Valletta. 

The GBA provides guidance and receives updates of our activities and plans, programmes planned for 2026, recent achievements, and progress under the EU-funded Counter-Terrorism Platform for Human Rights Engagement (CT PHARE).

The IIJ’s co-chairs opened the meeting and Executive Secretary Steven Hill welcomed all members, and gave an overview on our programmes, courses, and outreach operations in the past six months. 

Winthrop Wells, Senior Manager and Officer-in-Charge of the Programmatic Unit, shared impactful success stories, showcasing our proactive approach to tailoring activities and dedicated programmes with the help of our solid partnerships. 

Naoufel Gaied, Director of the Academic Unit, shared highlights of recent courses and activities, significant participant testimonials, and outlined our vision to expand our focus on research and programmes in the MENA region.

Paul Madden, CT PHARE Project Lead, provided valuable overview on all workshops conducted globally. He highlighted key achievements, the role of collaborative efforts in addressing regional challenges, and offered a preview of events planned for 2026, as CT PHARE’s final year of activities. 

Reinhard Uhrig, Director of Administration and Outreach, gave an overview of our outreach operations including monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilisation, communications and alumni, financial updates and other administrative priorities for 2026.
