Workshop on Public-Private Cooperation (PPC) to prevent Terrorist Financing

24 - 26 June 2026
Hanoi, Vietnam

From 24 - 26 June, the International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ), with generous funding support from Global Affairs Canada, convened a workshop to train focal points on public-private cooperation to prevent, disrupt and investigate terrorist financing in Southeast Asia, with the support from Global Affairs Canada.

The workshop brought together practitioners from seven jurisdictions: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

Over two and a half days, the participants worked on practical exercises designed to consider mechanisms for strengthening the two-way exchange of information between public and private sectors using the IIJ’s manual on public-private cooperation as a key reference.  The workshop was enriched by contributions from Interpol and public-private cooperation mechanisms from Australia (FINTEL Alliance), Denmark Operational Danish Intelligence Network (ODIN) and the United Kingdom Joint Money Laundering Intelligence Taskforce  (JMLIT).

This workshop concludes activities under the two-year regional project ‘Building Capacity and Improving Cooperation Mechanisms on Countering the Financing of Terrorism in Southeast Asia’ funded by Global Affairs Canada.  The IIJ is grateful for the support of Global Affairs Canada throughout implementation of this project that has enabled a series of productive and impactful activities across the region.

The IIJ also extends its thanks to the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam for their generous hospitality in allowing us to hold this event in Hanoi, Vietnam.
